“The second-generation Somnee is a revolutionary leap forward in closed-loop sleep technology. We took everything we learned—from our passionate Gen 1 community and research pilot with the NBA—and poured it into creating the most advanced, AI-powered sleep wearable on the market. One that uses clinical-grade sensors with a closed-loop approach that actively adapts and improves sleep,” said CEO Tim Rosa. “This isn’t just an upgrade—it’s a whole new standard for how we approach sleep. Whether you’re a high performer, a wellness-minded professional, or someone battling sleepless nights, Somnee is here to change the way you rest, recover, and live… so you can sleep more, to live more.”
Field-Tested with Athletes & Backed by the NBA as the Latest Equity Partner
Somnee has been testing this second-generation sleep headband at the highest levels of sport—from elite tri-athletes to select NBA teams and their performance training staff. Initial results from the company’s participation in the 2025 NBA Launchpad program, which advances next-generation technologies for league-wide health and performance, have been positive. Building on this momentum, the NBA has not only validated Somnee’s potential but also joined as an equity partner with Khosla Ventures, TIME Ventures, and others. Somnee is establishing itself as the go-to solution for high-performance sleep and will be available through select partners, including the Equinox Hotel, and through its partnership with Superpower to deliver the world’s first "closed-loop" sleep optimization program that combines blood biomarker insights with Somnee’s neurotechnology sleep aid.
“Decades of research have shown that sleep is the foundation of brain function, emotional stability, immune health, and longevity," said Dr. Matt Walker, PhD, Somnee co-founder and sleep scientist. "With the new Somnee, we've translated the latest neuroscience into wearable technology that doesn't just track sleep—it actively restores it. I see this as a meaningful, non-pharmacological step toward scalable technology that improves sleep quality. Our sincere hope is to help address the global sleep-loss epidemic.”
How Somnee Works
Somnee is the first at-home ‘electroceutical’ for sleep, using non-invasive, personalized electrical stimulation to improve sleep quality. Covered by 24 patents, its approach uses transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), personalized to each user’s brainwaves, to guide the brain into its natural sleep rhythm. In a 2023 peer-reviewed study published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, personalized tACS increased sleep duration by 19 minutes and reduced time to fall asleep by 6 minutes compared to fixed-frequency stimulation.
Somnee is proven to help users fall asleep twice as fast, stay asleep approximately 30 minutes longer, and reduce tossing and turning by a third. It outperforms melatonin by four times, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) by two times, and sleeping pills like Ambien by 1.5 times.
