TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 20, 2026--

RAM Geothermal LLC (RGT), a Tulsa-based geothermal energy company, announced today a new technology expected to transform the geothermal industry.

The new PowerDisk™ system, developed by renowned geophysicist Dr. Christopher Liner, professor and former chairman of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arkansas and past president of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), is designed to increase geothermal power output by up to 4.6x, and reduce drilling and completion costs by 60-70 percent per MW. These improvements are expected to lead to unmatched project economics compared to a wide range of currently available renewable and conventional energy solutions.

RAM Geothermal owner and Chairman, Larry Lee, said “These innovations are as significant and impactful a change for geothermal energy deliverability output as hydraulic completion technology was for the oil and gas industry’s shale revolution. This is profound next-generation technology that will reshape the industry as we know it and have a lasting impact on our country’s future energy supply and security.”

“The PowerDisk™ system is undoubtedly a sea change for the geothermal industry,” added RAM Geothermal Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Darrell Pennington. “Existing well designs and completion methods continue to limit operational efficiency, power output and project economics. The PowerDisk™ system introduces a new well architecture and reservoir geometry designed to maximize sweep efficiency and heat recovery, enabling higher power output, lower well counts and superior economics.”

Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, RAM Geothermal LLC is a next-generation geothermal (NGG) energy company founded by lifelong oil and natural gas professionals, strategically focused on unlocking the full potential of subsurface heat. RGT specializes in Enhanced Geothermal Systems, Combined Heat & Power technologies, and proprietary well testing services that provide rapid, low-cost resource estimation.

Geothermal is a 24/7 low carbon energy source, and RGT envisions a future where geothermal energy powers digital transformation, electrification and energy diversification—building clean, resilient and affordable energy systems to meet consistently growing energy demand. Deploying RAM Geothermal’s groundbreaking PowerDisk™ system will open geothermal development opportunities domestically and worldwide not currently economically feasible with existing technology.
