It’s a Wednesday Morning, as the United States Senate Chaplain’s office is reserved but focused as the film crew is setting up for its exclusive interview with United States Senate Chaplain Barry Black. Black, who has been the longest consecutive serving chaplain, moves also with ease but with purpose. Chaplain Black is clear that his main purpose of serving the capital is its one hundred Senators, but just as important as the one hundred US Senators is the seven-thousand-member staff, as well, that work within the capital walls. In a rare exchange with the media, Black is clear about his role as Chaplain, which is to serve the people that God has placed in front of him. For Chaplain Black, he knows that he’s at the center of political power, but he is also aware of who holds the power.
