Daniel, the feature starring Mena Massoud (Disney's Aladdin) and guided by the producers behind the $110M indie hit I Can Only Imagine, has entered the final 24 hours of its Wefunder equity crowdfunding round.
Since the round opened, the project has hit a series of major milestones. Principal photography is now complete, and the film has secured a global distribution deal with EKKL Entertainment, the faith and inspirational distributor founded by producer Michael Scott, whose film slate has collectively grossed over $200M at the box office. The deal sets up a theatrical release across 1,000+ screens in September 2026, with international sales launching at the Cannes Film Festival.
Combined with a previously funded round that secured $1.2M, the current campaign has continued to draw interest from a growing community of backers who want to be part of the project before the closing window ends.
"Watching this project move from page to screen has been incredible, and the momentum keeps building," said Daniel Kooman. "With filming wrapped and distribution locked in, we want to give every supporter who has been following along the chance to come on board before the round closes."
The film also features Elijah Alexander (The Chosen) as King Nebuchadnezzar, a new recording from Michael W. Smith of the hit song "Awesome God," and a producing team with more than $140M in box office across faith and family films. With production behind it and distribution ahead of it, Daniel is positioned for both critical attention and commercial reach within the independent film market.
