ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 23, 2025--
After 25 years on air, Bert Weiss will retire from The Bert Show, bringing the nationally syndicated morning-drive program to a close with its final broadcast on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025. Since launching the show in 2001, Weiss has become one of the industry’s most recognizable morning drive voices, building a loyal community of listeners across the country and creating a program that redefined morning radio with its candor, humor and unforgettable moments.
From being the first to put Justin Bieber on the radio to generating headline-making interviews – including when Usher revealed that a conversation on The Bert Show had inspired his “Confessions” album two decades earlier – Weiss consistently carried conversations far beyond the studio. Throughout his career, he fostered communication across cultures and lifestyles in pursuit of empathy and understanding.
Beyond broadcasting, Weiss’ legacy is defined by giving back. Through his nonprofit, Bert’s Big Adventure, he has provided hundreds of children with chronic and terminal illnesses – and their families – with all-expenses-paid trips to Walt Disney World, creating memories that last far beyond a single broadcast. Following his retirement, Weiss will continue to lead the organization, ensuring its mission remains central to his life’s work.
For more than two decades, Weiss has captivated audiences with his honest, unfiltered style. What began as a local Atlanta program grew into a nationally syndicated morning staple heard in more than two dozen markets, with millions of monthly podcast downloads. Along the way, the show became part of the cultural fabric – a place where listeners tuned in for laughter, tough conversations and authentic connection.
“For 25 years, listeners have allowed me to be part of their mornings, their commutes and their lives – and that is the greatest gift of my career,” said Bert Weiss. “It’s almost unheard of in radio for an audience to stay with a show this long, and I’ll never take that loyalty for granted. Every laugh, every tough conversation and every shared moment has meant the world to me.”
His career has been recognized with inductions into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame and Friends of Georgia Radio Hall of Fame, multiple National Radio Hall of Fame nominations and numerous “Best of Atlanta” honors.
Weiss’ career highlights include:
- Inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame (2020) and honored with its Founders & Directors Award the same year
- Three-time National Radio Hall of Fame nominee (2023, 2024, 2025)
- Named a 2025 inductee into the Friends of Georgia Radio Hall of Fame
- Consistently recognized as Best Radio Personality by Atlanta publications and reader polls
- Selected as a 2025 Atlanta Airport Ambassador, representing one of the world’s busiest airports
“We launched Bert and team with a loose plan to electrify Atlanta radio with a bold, buzzing morning show on a brand-new Top 40 station, operating on a then-unreliable ‘move-in’ signal from Anniston, Alabama,” said Brian Philips, Chief Content Officer for Cumulus Media. “In the ensuing 25 years, Bert emerged as the obsessive architect of humor, truthfulness and humanitarianism. With brilliant help from a hand-picked, evolving team, he built a national award-winning powerhouse. ‘The Bert Show Era’ is a historic chapter in Atlanta – and American – radio. As he reimagined the possibilities of morning entertainment, I’m sure he will attack retirement with wild, fun originality. Thank you, Bert."
Weiss will also remain focused on Pionaire, the boutique podcast consultancy he co-founded to mentor talent and elevate authentic storytelling in the digital space. Known for its hands-on approach and curated client roster, Pionaire helps creators cut through a crowded landscape by pairing authentic content with smart strategy. Through the company, Weiss continues to champion voices and build platforms that spark real connection between audiences and talent.
As he closes this remarkable chapter, Weiss looks ahead to getting married, traveling the world and discovering new adventures beyond the mic.
