Kevin and Cristyne kick off Fun Friday in full patriotic flair, raising a “glass to freedom” and diving into the electric energy building around America’s 250th birthday. Lower Manhattan is the star of the show — the cradle of the Revolution and, apparently, the perfect place for both history nerds and cocktail lovers.

They bring on Downtown Alliance president Jessica Lappin, who rolls out the red‑white‑and‑blue carpet for what’s coming this summer: brand‑new skyscrapers, booming nightlife, a growing residential scene, and the blockbuster July 4th Sail 4th celebration featuring tall ships, naval vessels, flyovers, and fireworks that will make Macy’s blush.

The episode also dives into Lower Manhattan’s tavern culture — past and present. In the 1700s, taverns were where political plots brewed alongside pints, and today you can still feel that rebellious spirit at places like Fraunces Tavern, where Washington once threw back a drink and likely a few opinions. Modern bars, rooftop spots, and cobblestone charm mix into a perfect downtown cocktail.

Next, historian Peter Christian Eigner joins to unveil the NYC Revolutionary Trail app — basically Assassin’s Creed meets American history. Visitors can walk, wander, or digitally explore 16 major Revolutionary sites, shoot British ships (digitally, relax), and pull down King George’s statue from the comfort of their phone. It’s history — leveled up for the 21st century.

Cristyne wraps the show with weekend picks: take your own Revolutionary Trail adventure, visit Trinity Church to pay respects to Alexander (and Angelica!), hit Off‑Broadway Week for two‑for‑one tickets, or swing by the Museum of the City of New York for the Irish New York Festival. Whether you’re a history buff, a nightlife hopper, or a proud NYC explorer, this Fun Friday episode hands you a perfect weekend itinerary.
