Merry Christmas, everyone!
As we gather with loved ones this holiday season, I hope your homes are filled with warmth, joy, and the simple blessings that matter most. From our family to yours, may you experience peace, gratitude, and the hope that comes with celebrating the birth of Christ.
In this spirit of reflection, let’s think about what a conservative Christian voter might truly hope for as we look ahead to the new year.
With the current political landscape—President Trump’s second term underway, a narrow Republican majority in Congress, and real challenges at home—here’s a thoughtful wish list focused on domestic priorities that align with traditional values like family, faith, fiscal responsibility, and security.
First: Secure borders and effective immigration enforcement. We need LONG TERM policies that protect our communities while upholding the rule of law. Strengthening border security would help reduce strain on public resources and ensure orderly, legal immigration—priorities that resonate deeply with many families concerned about safety and opportunity. We have a narrow majority but a majority, nonetheless. Start codifying.
Second: Affordable living through responsible fiscal policy. With inflation still affecting everyday costs like groceries, energy, and housing, we’d love tax relief that supports working families, coupled with efforts to curb unnecessary government spending. A balanced approach that rewards hard work and promotes economic stability would be a true gift. Things are on the up-tick for sure but I am still wishing for every fraudulently spent dollar to be clawed back. Let ’em cry about it.
Third: Unity within the Republican Party. Who needs enemies when you have friends like Kelly, Tucker, and Candace? Charlie Kirk’s AmFest this past week could easily have been a roast with all of the shade being thrown between the “influencer” class. Bringing conservatives together around shared principles of limited government and traditional values would help advance an agenda that benefits all Americans, rather than letting disagreements hinder real reform.
Fourth: Protection for the unborn and religious freedoms. Strengthening pro-life measures at the state and federal levels, while safeguarding faith-based institutions from mandates that conflict with biblical teachings, remains essential. Honoring the sanctity of life and the free exercise of religion is foundational to our values.
Fifth: Solutions to pressing January challenges. As we head into 2026, immediate domestic hurdles loom large. The federal government is funded only through January 30 via a continuing resolution—meaning Congress must act quickly to avoid another shutdown and pass responsible appropriations. Meanwhile, enhanced ACA premium subsidies are set to expire at the end of 2025, which could raise health care costs significantly for many families if not addressed. (Venezuela-related concerns, while important for foreign policy and immigration, take a backseat to these home-front priorities right now.)
These wishes aren’t about perfection—they’re about steady progress that honors our faith, families, and freedoms. What tops your list this Christmas?
