NEW YORK (AP) — Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young left Wednesday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets with a sprained right knee.

Hawks coach Quin Snyder said after the game that Young would get an MRI, while adding that early tests had determined it was not an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Young was injured in the first quarter when teammate Mouhamed Gueye fell into the side of his leg on an inbounds play. Young, a four-time All Star who entered the night averaging 20.8 points and 9.5 assists, grimaced and clutched the knee. The team examined him and ruled him out for the rest of the game.

“Not sure how long (he’ll be out) or what respect, but something that he’s going to hopefully be back from whenever possible,” Snyder said.

Snyder said Young wanted to keep playing, but the team trainer advised against it. Young finished with six points in seven minutes of action.

“He didn’t want to come out of the game,” Snyder said. “He’s such a competitor. He takes so much pride in being available.”
